With its beginnings as a small Brooklyn jewelry store called J.R. Wood & Sons, their story and innovations are amazing. J.R. Wood & Sons made the finest platinum and gold jewelry for residents of the New York City and “struck gold” with the creation of the “Victoria” diamond engagement ring, named after Queen Victoria. More jewelry breakthroughs followed with the perfection of the soldered seam method, making possible the first seamless wedding bands in 1850 and the first printed jewelry catalogue in 1909. And, in the roaring 1920’s, another new innovation - carved rings - would give birth to the Artcarved name and lead the way for women’s jewelry designs.

Artcarved was the only company allowed to create jewelry during WWII and popularized the dual band ceremony, giving men a symbol of home and love to wear overseas. Using the most famous celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor, Jane Wyman, and Cheryl Tiegs, ArtCarved grew and developed emerald cut and star designs.
