Like the seasons of spring, summer, fall, and winter, wedding season is very much a thing too!

June to September is the most popular time for couples to get hitched, and it’s no wonder considering it’s usually the time of year with the best weather – and no one wants a rainy wedding day!

However, this is also dependent on your location in the US. For example, if you’re planning on hosting your wedding somewhere in the South, Southwest, or Midwest, you may wish to avoid these times due to how hot it can get in the height of summer.

Late spring and early autumn/fall seem to be the sweet spot in picking the perfect time and date for your special day.

But what about picking the perfect ring for your engagement or wedding day?

Now, there’s a big decision that needs to be made.

Wedding season is the season for buying diamond rings!

And while diamonds are beautiful, they can also be costly, so many people choose to go for Moissanite or even lab-grown diamonds instead of natural mined diamonds.

Whatever your budget, you must choose the perfect design for your wedding or engagement ring, and baguette diamond rings might be what you're looking to buy!

But what is a baguette diamond engagement ring or wedding band?

Don't worry, let’s take a look at how the baguette diamond has influenced the engagement ring and also makes for some stunning wedding band designs - here are 7 of our favorites!

1. Baguette Diamond Engagement Ring

Fun fact, baguette diamonds get their name from the French word “bague,” meaning ring, and baguette also refers to the long loaf of bread - but we prefer the long line of diamonds personally!

Baguette diamonds are becoming increasingly popular for engagement rings due to their flat rectangular shape, sharp corners, and many facets reflecting light.

Baguette diamond designs are also an excellent option for an engagement ring or wedding band because these diamonds look great when paired with round diamonds in a solitaire setting.

2. Five Stone Baguette Diamond Ring

Diamonds are a girl's best friend, and this timeless classic is the perfect choice for any engagement ring or wedding band. A baguette diamond ring with an emerald cut center diamond and beveled sides gives it a glittery luster. The light reflects off the angled surfaces, making the diamond sparkle even more than some other cuts.

A five-stone baguette diamond ring such as the Kirk Kara Stella Five Stone Baguette Diamond Engagement Ring, showcases the stunning beauty of the baguette diamonds on either side of the main emerald cut diamond. You could even mix things up a bit by adding a touch of color with rubies or with sapphires in the same way as the Kirk Kara Hand Engraved Charlotte Sapphire and Diamond Engagement Ring Crafted with 0.11 Carats of Diamonds and 1.34 Carats of Blue Sapphires.

3. Baguette Diamond Contour/Chevron Ring

Baguette diamonds are one of the most sought-after cuts for engagement rings, and a baguette diamond contour ring is a beautiful piece of jewelry that will make any woman feel like a queen.

With its unique shape and style, this ring is sure to catch the eye of anyone who sees it. It features multiple diamonds that curve in a tapered, geometric fashion that often forms a V shape that helps enhance the shape and sparkle of the center stone. The diamonds can be set into all colors of gold or platinum, depending on the person's preference.

4. Baguette Diamond and Emerald Cut Band

Emerald-cut diamonds are a great alternative to round diamonds and also look brilliant in smaller sizes, which makes them easier to wear for people with small fingers or those who prefer simple styles.

Emerald-cut diamonds are also more popular than they used to be, and as our taste in fashion evolves, so does our appreciation for different shapes and colors in jewelry.

This ring design is perfect for anyone looking for something classic yet modern at the same time—and since emerald cut rings come in a variety of metal colors (white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, and platinum), you can customize the color scheme of your wedding band too!

5. Baguette Cut Wedding Band

The third option is a baguette cut wedding band with a row of baguette diamonds across most of the band’s surface. This Noam Carver Baguette Cut Diamond Wedding Ring is a stunning example of the sophistication and simplicity that you will get from a baguette wedding band - the style is timeless and fits almost any personality!

The band's metal can also be customized, meaning you can mix the colors of your wedding band and engagement rings too to suit, platinum works best with white or rose gold bands, while yellow gold looks great with palladium bands. And if you want that extra level of customization and uniqueness, why not get the inside of your wedding band engraved also? A beautiful way to commemorate your special day!

6. Baguette Channel Set Wedding Band

A baguette channel set ring is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a simple yet elegant wedding band that you can wear with any engagement ring. This type of design typically has a row of diamonds inlaid into a band, which creates a dazzling effect when viewed from either direction.

Depending on your personal taste and budget, there are many variations on this theme: You can choose from plain or fancy bands; diamonds can be set side-by-side or alternating, and the size of the stones will vary depending on how much you want to spend.

You might be wondering why we’re recommending diamond rings instead of other gemstones like sapphires and rubies; after all, both are trendy choices for engagement rings!

In fact, they make great alternatives if you don't have access to high-quality diamonds at affordable prices—but if your budget allows it (and we hope it does), then why not go all out?

Diamonds are sturdy enough to withstand everyday wear while maintaining their brilliance over time compared to other precious stones, such as emeralds or pearls, which can crack or chip due to exposure/wear conditions.

7. Vintage Baguette Wedding Band

Vintage means classic and if you’re looking for something that will shine through the years of your marriage, then look no further than the vintage baguette wedding band. A beautiful example of this gorgeous design would be the Kirk Kara Charlotte Diamond Baguette Wedding Band

This stunning wedding band offers a collection of baguette diamonds paired with milgrain detailing throughout the ring as well as engraving - which you can personalize should you wish to add those extra special details just for you! The vintage design is an understated showstopper that will surely add a glimmer to each day!

Pros and Cons of Baguette Diamonds

Pros:

Baguette diamonds are a great choice for a more subtle, understated look. They're less flashy than traditional round diamonds and add a little bit of extra elegance to any piece of jewelry.

They're also easy to find in all shapes, sizes, and colors—making them perfect for people who want a unique look without breaking the bank.

Cons:

One of the biggest cons of baguette diamond rings is that they are slightly less durable than other shapes.

Because baguettes are relatively flat, they tend to chip or crack more quickly than other diamond designs. However, if you are careful with your ring during everyday wear and remove it while you are working out at the gym with weights or doing rough chores around the house, then you should be just fine and it will last a lifetime.

Checklist for buying a baguette diamond ring

Quality

Baguette diamonds unfortunately can lack the wow factor that comes with the sparkle and brilliance of other diamond cuts.

This is the same with emerald cuts as well due to the top facet of the diamond making it easier to see inside the diamond itself which, in turn, makes it easier to see any inclusions in the diamond.

Round cuts, on the other hand, have multiple facets which hide these inclusions.

Because of this, you want to ensure you opt for the highest quality baguette diamond you can afford, go for a higher color grade, generally between an E or F color, it doesn’t have to be the highest color to look perfect, but the whiter the appearance the better it will look overall.

Essentially, anything within the VS range will look brilliant and avoid you seeing any interior inclusions inside the diamond!

Setting

The best setting for a baguette diamond ring is an open setting so you can see all sides of the diamonds.

An open setting also allows light to get in through the ring's sides and back, making it look more brilliant than other settings would do. One of the most popular settings right now is an emerald cut shared prong setting with a hidden halo. This setting sits the diamond up high and you can see all the sides and brilliance of the beautiful center diamond.

Colors

Baguettes come in many different colors depending on the gemstones; however, white diamonds are more popular than other colors because they look brighter than any other color in this setting type such as rubies or sapphires.

When it comes to grading the color of an actual diamond, baguettes follow the 4C color grading as per GIA guidelines. While baguettes are often seen as the least expensive in terms of diamond cuts, the higher you go up the 4C scale the more expensive your baguette ring will become.

Cost

With the above point in mind, the cost of a baguette diamond ring depends on many factors, including the diamond carat weight, color, cut & clarity grade, and, whether it's natural or lab-grown.

However, the average cost of a mid-color grade mined 2 carat emerald cut center diamond with baguette diamonds on either side can cost around $16000 for both setting and diamond. If you were looking for something a little more budget-friendly, you may wish to look at lab-grown diamonds which would cost around $5300 for both setting and diamond.
